Random Sort - Assigning a random order (priorities) to items in your list

Whether you are assigning kids’ names to a track on a running field for a school running carnival, defining the order of challenges for your photography club, choosing your lotto numbers or selecting 200 out of 500 students to enrol into a popular university subject, you need a random sorting tool. The Random Sort app suits that exact purpose.

About the App

Random Sort is suitable for random sorting of lists containing up to 10,000 items. Unlike some other applications there is no need to enter any data but the total number of items in your list. The app will create a list of randomly sorted numbers where the number of items corresponds to your entered total. For small lists (for example, lotto numbers) you can manually write down or input the randomly sorted numbers from the app in a column or row next to your data. For large lists, it is likely you will have your data organized in an Excel spreadsheet. In order to enable easy sorting of this spreadsheet, Random Sort will create either a single column or single row Excel file which will be automatically attached to your email. You can send this file to a desired e-mail address, append it to your data, and use it to randomly sort your large spreadsheet table.

How to use Random Sort

- Enter the Number of items you have in your list and press the Sort Items button

- Random Sort List is now populated with random order numbers. The left side states your list item and right side its random order. For small lists write or type the order numbers to your list manually top to bottom. When dealing with large lists up to 10,000 items press either Send 1col XLS or Send 1row XLS to create a single column or single row Excel file. This file will be attached to your e-mail which you can send to a desired e-mail address. Once you receive this file, add it to your Excel spreadsheet with the large list that you want to randomly sort, aligning it properly with your data. Use this additional column/row and apply an ascending sort on your data set. Your data will now be randomly sorted. If you have a title row or column put a value of zero in the order column/row before applying the ascending sort. This will keep your title as the first item in the list.

- If you want to generate lotto numbers using this app, enter the number of balls in the Number of Items input field and press Sort Items. Take the required number of rows from the Random Sort List (e.g. for a lotto game with 45 balls and 6 numbers per game, put 45 as Number of Items, press Sort Items and take 6 rows from Random Sort List as one game. Press Sort List again to get new game combination).
